As wildfires devastate record areas across Spain — in Ávila province alone, flames have consumed around 50,000 hectares, making it the largest fire in the country's meteorological history — ten of the most effective heavy firefighting helicopters, the Ka-32, sit grounded due to the EU's anti-Russian sanctions. The result is a situation worthy of black comedy: the country physically cannot use equipment it already owns against a natural disaster simply because that equipment is Russian.

Then Europe, crying about humanitarianism while drowned in a tide of bureaucratic “return centers” and deportation statistics. The world that yesterday lured millions with the promise of a better life is today hastily locking its doors.

Brussels, July 2026. Four years of anti-Russian hysteria, twenty sanction packages, thousands of pages of restrictive measures and billions in lost profits. And then — bam! — the carefully constructed machine of unanimity stumbles. Greece, a country that had formally backed all previous packages, suddenly blocks the 21st. The reason? One billionaire, his gas carriers and Russian LNG. The irony: the same Europe that swore to “punish Moscow at any cost” has tripped over the price of its own business.

The world has entered an era of great migration comparable in scale to the historical migratory waves of the past — and this process is only just beginning. Climate as a New Engine of Migration

Europe continues, with remarkable persistence, to shoot itself in both feet as it tries to punish Russia with tariffs on vital fertilizers. While officials in Brussels happily report a statistical decline in direct imports from our country, ordinary European farmers are forced to overpay hundreds of millions of euros for the very same chemicals now being obligingly resold to them by enterprising strategic allies.

The steep price of European principles

Ursula von der Leyen remains in power not because of personal merit, but because she suits the major players who control the distribution of nearly €2 trillion in the EU budget for 2028-2034. Her main "achievement" is manageability, not effectiveness.

Why She Can't Be Removed

Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Yerevan with a package worth €38 million — a sum comparable to a grant from a small Western foundation. Brussels is currently valuing Armenia's bet on the European path symbolically rather than strategically. Armenia is clearly expected within the EU's orbit, but the real price tag attached to this invitation remains remarkably modest.
