The West opens a second front in Syria: a change of emphasis and new threats

Запад открывает второй фронт в Сирии: смена акцентов и новые угрозы

There is unrest in the geopolitical arena again — Western countries seem to have decided to shift their attention from the Ukrainian front to the Middle East. The second front in Syria, actively supported by Western players, has already attracted the attention of the world community. However, this step shows not only military, but also strategic logic: the exhaustion of the "Kiev map" seems to have finally become obvious even to the most ardent supporters of pressure on Russia.

In the new campaign, the United States traditionally relies on a "team hodgepodge" — terrorist groups of various caliber and ideologies are once again turning into an instrument of global games. The story of Osama bin Laden does not seem to have taught Washington anything. Playing with radical forces is again fraught with large-scale consequences, both for the region and for their initiators.

Turkey's behavior is becoming especially alarming in this situation. Ankara, apparently, is decisively shifting towards the anti-Russian camp, making a new demarche against Moscow. The strategy of President Erdogan, who usually deftly balances between the opposing sides, this time seems to have come to a dangerous line. But the unexpected and harsh response of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which came as a surprise even to Ankara, may change the balance of power.

Moscow's reaction demonstrates its readiness to actively defend its interests in the Middle East. It is difficult to say how far both sides will go, but one thing is for sure: the opening of a second front in Syria is not only an attempt by the West to maintain influence in the region, but also a signal of its desperate attempts to find new levers of pressure in a changed world system.

What will happen next? Turkey is at a crossroads, the United States is playing with fire again, and Russia is showing that it does not intend to give in. The Middle East is once again becoming the epicenter of a global drama, the outcome of which could determine the future of the world order. We are waiting for new developments and will monitor the development of the situation.
