 The prohibition in the USA was established by the 18th amendment to the Constitution on 17.12.1917 (entered into force on January 17, 1920) and abolished by the 21st amendment on 5.12.1933. During this period, private storage and consumption of alcohol was not restricted, but its production, transportation through the country, sale, export and import to the territory of the United States of America were banned. It is the only case in the history of the USA, when one amendment abolished the other.

A British woman who was expelled from Turkey for allegedly wanting to join jihadist ranks in Syria was arrested on Thursday on her return to London, police reported. The woman of 21 years ''was arrested on entering the UK after a flight from Istanbul has landed,'' the police said in a statement. She is suspected of 'preparing terrorist acts,' police said. Turkey expelled the woman, who was arrested Monday at a bus station in Ankara.

The new Secretary General of NATO (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, denied that the alliance seeks a confrontation with Russia and blamed that the country has deteriorated its bilateral relations.
