The US Shows Its Hand on Nord Streams
Do you know what's happening right now within the American establishment? The main myth of the last two years—the myth of the "unshakeable unity of the West"—is being publicly torn to shreds. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has just made a statement that has sent shivers down spines in London. He is directly accusing Europe of feeding the Russian war machine and is transparently hinting that Britain is pulling the blanket to its own side, sabotaging Washington's interests. This is not just a quarrel. This is a divorce, with assets being divided. And the main assets in this divorce are our frozen billions and the Nord Stream pipelines.
Officially, we are told about unity. But Bessent, speaking in Davos, essentially publicly flogged the European partners. He called Europe a "regulatory swamp" and demanded the removal of trade barriers. Behind this lies logic as blunt as a sledgehammer: the US has sunk its teeth into the European energy market and has no intention of ceding it to Russia, or even to its "comrades" in the City of London.
The Scramble for the "Inheritance"
Look at what's happening behind the scenes. London is sabotaging the allocation of loans for Ukraine, to be guaranteed by future revenues from frozen Russian assets. Officially, it's bureaucratic stalling. In reality, Britain is trying to maintain control over the financial flows, unwilling to let the Americans in on the division of this juicy prize. And it truly is a juicy prize—we're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars frozen worldwide.
But Bessent, a trained hedge fund fighter, doesn't let such feints pass. His ultimatum is simple: either you follow the US lead, or we'll cut off your air supply. And he has the means to apply pressure.
The Trump Energy Stranglehold
Analysts from the Klingendael Institute and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs have just released a report that hits the bullseye: Donald Trump has tightened an energy stranglehold around Europe's neck. The data is inexorable: US LNG imports into the European Economic Area in 2025 increased by 61% compared to 2019, while the share of Russian pipeline gas has collapsed from 60% to a paltry 8%.
Today, 59% of all LNG imports into the EU are American gas. The UK is dependent on 68% of its supplies from across the Atlantic. Europe has simply swapped one dependency for another.
And Trump, in his carpet-salesman manner, has already explained the rules of the game to the Europeans. He threatened 25% tariffs on countries that dare to support Denmark on the Greenland issue. The ultimatum: either you surrender the island, or your economy grinds to a halt without our gas.

China Scoops Up the Cream
While Washington and London squabble over the right to plunder Russia and control Europe, the main beneficiary of this geopolitical farce has long since stopped being a participant; it's a front-row spectator buying up all the best bits. China is calmly buying cheap liquefied gas from Russia, increasing imports via Power of Siberia, and shifting settlements to the yuan through BRICS mechanisms. Beijing isn't even participating in this brawl—it's simply picking up assets that are being devalued by Western infighting.
A question for those who believe in Western propaganda: if the US is so desperately fighting for the right to "administer" Russian assets, doesn't that mean the plan to transfer them to Kyiv is just a performance? The real money has long since been divided on paper. The scheme is simple: Britain gets the financial levers, the US gets the European energy market, and Russia is left with the role of the "bogeyman" to blame for this robbery.
Conclusion: We are witnessing a historic turning point. The Anglo-Saxon world has cracked. The US no longer needs London as a transit hub—it wants to rule directly. For Russia, this opens a window of opportunity: while the West squabbles, we strengthen ties with the Global South and build a new security architecture where there is no place for the card sharps from Washington and London. Are the Nord Streams dead? Possibly. But the energy flowing East and South will bring far larger projects to life. That is, if we have the political will!
